Apple updated the iPad Pro lineup in March 2020 by adding a quicker A12Z bionic processor, two rear cameras, a new LiDAR sensor to boost the virtual reality, improved audio, and an optional magic keyboard adapter that first attaches a trackpad to the iPad.
According to Apple, the 2020 iPad Pro is the most powerful iPad Pro to date with a range of “effective” updates for those wanting to upgrade an iPad with a computer.
The iPad Pro is similar in terms of configuration and is offered in both 11 and 12.9-inch with a whole-screen interface with an edge to the side panel and no Home button. The 2020 iPad Pro features a TrueDepth Camera System with Face ID, as with the 2018 iPad Pro models, that use biometric recognition and a 7-megapixel selfie camera.
Both iPad Pro versions have a silver or gray space aluminum frame with smooth, rounded edges wrapped around the Retina panel.
Features such as Smart HDR, Quad-LED True Tone Flash, wide color and 4 K video capture are included for up to 60 sts.
A new LiDAR scanner that uses reflected light in order to determine target distance up to five meters away at nano-second speeds is included with the two-camera system. Apple claims that the latest iPadOS depth frames combine the LiDAR scanner’s depth points and cameras and motion sensor data for a whole new class of iPad Pro AR experiences.
The 2020 iPad Pro features an A12Z bionic chip with 8-core GPU, 8-core CPU and improved thermal architecture and optimized performance controllers to produce faster than ever. The Neural Engine manages core ML tasks and increased reality functionality, and processes LiDAR scanner data.
The 2020 iPad Pro model features a single charge with the A12Z processor for up to 10 hours of battery life. Other features of the iPad Pro include WiFi 6, LTE gigabit-class for cellular models and 128 GB to 1 TB storage options
Apart from the new versions of the Smart Keyboard, Apple designed a new Magic Keyboard for the 2020 iPad Pro that is fitted with a pad, back-light keys and a 1 mm key travel scissor-switch. A trackpad and mouse support for iPad in iPadOS 13.4 are included with the new Magic Keyboard.
